About us

Introduction

Based in the Faculty of Economics at Cambridge, The Janeway Institute is funded primarily by Weslie and William Janeway and has three core missions: to produce frontier work in economics, to shape young minds by investing in the next generation of economists, and to bring together researchers from around the globe, in economics and across the sciences.

Developing cutting-edge research

The Janeway Institute will build on the research of Cambridge-INET, with its hundreds of working papers and research contributions, and publications that have helped redefine fields. We’ll be researching fundamental questions ranging from monetary policy to behavioural norms, from trading in financial markets to supply chain disruptions but also developing fundamental methods to analyse these questions.

Producing the next generation of economists

One of the Institute’s key priorities centres on continuing the successful postdoctoral programme established by Cambridge INET, by supporting and training young scholars to develop critical minds and focus on bringing new thinking into the mainstream.
