Title: A New Estimator for the "Latent-Diffusion-Observed-Adoption" Model
Abstract: When new products are launched, new technologies become available or new opinions emerge, individual agents who learn about it may or may not react to it by changing their behavior. However, it is highly unrealistic to presume that everybody learns about the opportunity instantly. Instead, agents might exchange the news within their social network and become eligible to make a choice only upon receiving it. Yet the information diffusion in the network is not observed by the econometrician, making estimation and inference nontrivial. I propose a new estimation method for this "latent-diffusion-observed-adoption" model and demonstrate its advantages compared to previously employed ones.
